Is this a joke question from a comedian? Great player no doubt. But greatest ever? If we want to say greatest with the most league help. Or greatest player at bouncing around to a new team every 4 years to form an instant all star team. Or greatest player to get away with a push foul every time he drives to the basket or needs to clear space to get his shot off.

@Marco Citizen If it takes him joining another 3 teams to do it no. Of course when you bounce around the league every 4 years to form an instant all star team you'll create championships and great numbers. Try playing for 1 team for 20 years and putting up the number of rings and championships Kobe has done despite the league favoring Lebron CP3 veto tampering. No comparison. Great is doing more with less or less help. One had the league against them and one had the league for them. Who would you say had less help?

First Things First: Cris Carter and Nick Wright Well here’s the thing, Lebron has a 40-44” vertical and a 4.6 forty(not 4.4 Jim). MJ was recorded with a 46” vertical b4 he came into the league. In 1987, he was recorded at 48”. MJ ran a 4.6 forty when he first came to UNC, and then ran a 4.3 the next fall. MJ is easily the better scorer no need to explain, Lebron is the more versatile defender but MJ is better at locking down dudes. MJ is actually the better rebounder(2” shorter and 35lbs lighter but still averages less than one rebound per game less than Lebron in a vastly more physical era), he’s not as good of a passer but he averaged 6.3 APG for his years with the bulls, in 1989 there was an 11 game stretch where he had 10 triple doubles and averaged 34 PPG, 13 RPG, and guess what, 11 APG. His career high is APG is 8, not that much less than Lebron. So yea, MJ’s the goat.

I'm seeing so many comments saying pretty much how dare Nick argue against someone who played and is an athlete. 2 things. First that's a fallacious argument, appeal to authority. I don't need to be a scientist to know the sun's 93 million miles away, furthermore if a dentist tells u that not brushing ur teeth has no side effect that doesn't make it true. And again he pretty much used anecdotal evidence to try and make his point.

4 天 前
Topinka Hatt
Topinka Hatt

Finally somebody smart. His only argument was I played against him. He's just rolling with the popular narrative to avoid criticism. LeBron is overall better.

3 天 前
Andrew Decker
Andrew Decker

I mean where do I start... First off u say forget the numbers but then use anecdotal "evidence" to make ur argument lol. No way Kobe is a better overall player than LeBron james objectively. That's not an opinion that's fact. Now obviously u can argue kareem and obviously Jordan and that's fine but c'mon bro lol. Now again that doesn't mean people think Kobe is trash. anyone who thinks that is delusional but he's not in the immediate conversation for goat.

Nick Wright is a known Kobe hater. His arguments against Kobe is based only on his hate. Nick's fondness for Lebron gives him a narrow point of view against anyone else that is discussed better than Lebron.

Anyone who hasn't picked up a ball in their lives, let alone played in the NBA(!), should take a step back and pay attention. The game is not played on paper with numbers, anyone can manipulate stats to suit their argument

8 天 前
Judah Mourneth
Judah Mourneth

Eddie Bitar they played with him that’s all. Lol just because they pick Kobe doesn’t negate the fact that lebron is better and greater than Kobe. I don’t quite understand why people don’t grasp this. He’s been outplaying Kobe and his team all throughout Kobe’s prime while collecting MVPS. He’s statically wipes the floor with him and is way more efficient and proficient.

7 天 前
Eddie Bitar
Eddie Bitar

@Judah Mourneth I trust my baskeball knowledge, I state this with full confidence. Besides, the vast majority of players go with the kobester. Their "opinions" you should value at least

7 天 前

Eddie Bitar so that’s your personal opinion it’s not really basketball related.

7 天 前
Eddie Bitar
Eddie Bitar

@Judah Mourneth Watching the games. Kobe doesn't let guys off the hook, he is a threat at all times, and is a winner. Countless times I've seen LeBron not live up the moment. Besides this, Kobe is far more skilled. Constant double and triple teams, he was the entire Lakers offense. LeBron is great of course, but Kobe is a different animal

7 天 前
Judah Mourneth
Judah Mourneth

Eddie Bitar so what are you basing Kobe’s greatness on. How are you evaluating. What makes Kobe better than lebron

7 天 前
Josh Peveto
Josh Peveto

He's talking about how Kobe being the best player in the world during and not making it out of the first round for a few years is something that is unheard of Even though Jordan was obviously the best player in the league when he was young and ALSO getting bumped out of the first round....

8 天 前
Judah Mourneth
Judah Mourneth

Josh Peveto yes but you’re talking about a precocious Jordan who wasn’t even in his prime going up against arguably the greatest team in NBA history. Every team he lost to went on to win the championship. As for Kobe he was 3x champion at the time with all those playoffs and finals experience missed the playoffs in his prime and couldn’t get out the first round, even losing a 3-1 by not shooting. Hmmmm

I respect that Jim actually played in all those eras and has a player point of view. But fans and sports analysts watch all these games on television and actually see what's going on. It's not these games are played in a private gym and we have to depend on the actually players to determine who's better.

12 天 前
Judah Mourneth
Judah Mourneth

Kevin Boman you don’t get MVPs Because you avg over 30 points. Especially when your team is the 7th seed. Mj In 89 avg 30/8/8 on 50% shooting and magic won. Wilt avg 50 PPG and didn’t win MVP that year Steve Nash actually had better numbers, team had a better record and he actually elevated his teammates games by upping their career avgs. Which means he was more IMPACTFUL than Kobe was.

Jim Jackson is right Nick is a guy who's never played and because some guys have better stats that means they are better which doesn't make any sense because just look at mj his best years stat wise are all the years he couldn't win titles and the year he gets Scottie his numbers come down boom titles. So the most.important stat is championships by far 5-2 in Kobe's favor. You.play to win the game and let's also not forget that the sun's should have won the title if not for the crooked ref the year they are talking about

The year that Shaq left, Kobe also lost Derek Fisher, Gary Payton, Rick fox, Horace grant, Karl Malone etc. Saying that "shaq left and they didn't make the playoffs" is dishonest. They were in the tougher conference and were basically in rebuilding mode. Not only did they lose their main star, they lost their entire core of role players. They had a team of scrubs in 04-05 season.

15 天 前
Judah Mourneth
Judah Mourneth

ohIcanChangeMyNameIDKthat rebuilding or not, you’re a 3x champion with all that playoffs and finals experience couldn’t even get your team to the playoffs. Then they had to bring Phil back and the next two years he couldn’t get out the first round losing a 3-1 lead in the process. All time great but very overrated.
